Gianluca Vialli’s Chelsea went to the riverside and beat Middlesbrough 1-0, with Bernard Lambourde scoring the only goal of the game. Paul Gascoigne a 71st minute substitute was sent off in the dying minutes in front of a crowd of 34,183.
